Description

First things first, regardless of who we think wrote the Bible, or where they wrote the Bible, one thing is blatantly clear, King James did not write the Bible. Moses, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Solomon, King David, Elijah, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Paul, John, Jude, Peter and all the biblical personalities did not write or speak English. We must all come to grips with the fact of, our Bibles are translations of what these people wrote and experienced. We must have a understanding of the people and their culture and reasons why they wrote down what they wrote down, instead of trying to shape and retrofit what they wrote, and what they meant, to fit our lives. Too often the church takes two or three scriptures, from a entire chapter, from a entire book of the Bible, and create a one hour storytime of their “preaching”, instead of teaching the biblical principles. From my experience, the congregation is rarely given context as to what the scripture is pertaining to as far as the chapter goes, and who they were addressing.

I wanted to search the scriptures for myself, and see what it says so that I may discern false teachings and wolves in sheep’s clothing (acts 17:11). After all, Jesus was a Hebrew, so was Paul, Peter, James, King David, Solomon, Joseph, Moses and on and on. Today many people are relying on their church attendance, or lack thereof, as an assurance that they are saved, but Jesus says there will be many people that cries “Lord Lord” and won’t be saved (Matthew 7:21), Jesus also says just because you read the scriptures, doesn’t mean you are saved (John 5:39-40). From my understanding, I cannot get into heaven based on the faith, or the understanding of someone else, Jesus says the truth will set you free. Well how do I find the truth? Seek and you will find (Matthew 7:7) says the Messiah. I wanted to know what was God’s name? What was the name he gave to the Hebrew people? The name that has been stricken from the Bible and replaced with titles like Lord, God, Most High and Almighty God. And even being misrepresented as “Jehovah”.

The question then becomes, do you want to know what John wrote? Or do you want to know what someone thought John wrote? Because we have multiple manuscripts proving what John “actually” wrote. The decision comes down to what the reader wants to hear. I had realize one day that I knew about the Bible, I knew biblical stories, I knew of biblical persons, but I had never actually read the Bible. So what I did was get a one-year Bible reading plan (chronologically) and I read the Bible. This is what I came across. Disclaimer! I am wrestling with my own questions questions questions, just like everyone else (Genesis 32:24-26), so any constructive input, comments or answers would be greatly appreciated. Let’s have fun.

I really enjoyed this experience, I have learned things that were in the Bible, that has never been taught to me by any preacher, and I kept saying, "The Bible says what" which is where the name came from. This book is just me reading the Bible, that I'm sure everybody has at least two of in their house, and taking notes. I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate it, but at the same time, I'm sure a lot of people will be rubbed the wrong way, because some of the stories and information in the Bible can be a shock to the system. And to that, I say, these are just my opinions and questions, I am not making any claims to be a theological expert on these matters, and furthermore, if you are offended and angry, take it up with God, the Bible is his word not mine.
